El material está conformado por nueve unidades. Las dos primeras están orientadas a revisar temas presentados en los dos semestres previos. En la unidad tres se hace la presentación de un primer tema de este curso: la lectura detallada a nivel de texto. El resto del material se ocupa de los contenidos del programa de Comprensión de Lectura en Inglés III y, de manera paralela, se continúa con el reciclaje de conocimientos adquiridos. Cada unidad didáctica menciona, tanto los objetivos de la unidad como los temas abordados.
El diseño del material está encaminado a propiciar la constante relación entre las diferentes actividades propuestas en los ejercicios. Esto con el objeto de que por medio de las tareas de cada unidad didáctica, se incluyan varios rubros del programa.
La introducción de los contenidos temáticos a lo largo del material se desarrolla en varias etapas:
Presentación: explicación breve y esquemática.
Ejemplificación: ilustrativa.
Ejercitación: para garantizar el aprendizaje y el manejo del tema.
Aplicación: ejercicios en donde se observe que el alumno es capaz de extrapolar información eficientemente.
Evaluación: verificación del aprendizaje a través de actividades similares a las realizadas en etapas anteriores." En cuanto a las características referidas en el párrafo anterior, también queremos que aprendas a observar los diferentes contextos sociales, en los que los diseños varían según la población. Existen quienes tienen dinero y quiénes no. La población mayoritaria no posee gran capital y vive de su fuerza de trabajo; si no labora, no puede vivir; su casa, su colonia, su trabajo, sus espacios de recreación, son diferentes, austeros, a veces ubicados en zonas de riesgo. En cambio, la sociedad minoritaria cuenta con todas la prerrogativas del decoro y dignidad. Por lo anterior, planteamos ciertas reflexiones para conformar diseños que cubran estas prerrogativas para la clase mayoritaria." Nos encontramos inmersos en un proceso de actualización curricular, en una búsqueda que nos allane los caminos hacia los aprendizajes más pertinentes, significativos y actuales que necesitan adquirir nuestros alumnos.
En esa pretensión resulta de incuestionable valía revisar los conceptos, ideas y planteamientos que, en diversos momentos, expresaron quienes asumieron la conducción del Colegio.
Con la selección que se presenta aquí, o con cualquiera que se hiciese, resulta imposible agotar todas las percepciones, propuestas o iniciativas externadas por sus autores, sin embargo, este material puede brindar al lector un panorama de lo que ha sucedido en el Colegio en diferentes etapas de su devenir.
Las ideas de su creador, el Doctor Pablo González Casanova, son el punto de partida no sólo porque generaron una nueva visión de la Universidad, sino también porque nutrieron la esperanza, los ideales y acciones de todos sus protagonistas, especialmente de sus profesores. A quienes posteriormente encabezaron el rumbo del Colegio les correspondió la tarea de organizar y consolidar dichas ideas, en contextos algunas veces difíciles, pero siempre con la convicción de que la educación de los jóvenes de nuestro país ameritaba cualquier esfuerzo, por grande que fuera requerido.
Los puntos de vista contenidos en esta publicación han tenido un papel orientador en el rumbo de la institución y han influido en el trabajo dentro y fuera del aula de quienes, en mayor o menor medida, han hecho realidad los ideales educativos que nos siguen inspirando.

Tanto la publicación de este libro como la serie, inaugurada por éste, Tesis de excelencia escritas por profesores del Colegio, tiene como finalidad difundir los logros académicos de aquellos docentes que atienden puntualmente el modelo educativo del Colegio.
